Celebrating One Year and Counting

In just six weeks, the old saucony shoe factory was transformed into a 12,500 square foot indoor sports facility complete with two fieldturf fields, an office, a training room and upgraded bathrooms.

The facility could not have been successful without the generosity of local businesses, individuals and family contributions, and over 600 volunteer hours from people who helped to support this community driven project.

The Fields4Kids board would like to thank everyone who helped make this much-needed project happen in such a short time span. The facility could not have been possible without the $100,000 grant received from the US Soccer Foundation, Fieldturf Tarkett and Northeast Turf Hue. Other key local companies who made this project possible with significant donations, time and expertise are: Carpenter and Associates, ABM Mechanical, Twin City Metal, EL-Tech Electricians, Hughes Brothers, Downeast Orthopedics, Commercial Divers Inc, Sunny Day Builders, Horizon Solutions, RH Foster, Sunbelt Rentals, and Rhoades Building Supply.

Fields4Kids would also like to thank the following companies for their help in providing product, labor or donations to help make the indoor sports facility a reality: Alliance Glass, Rice Glass, Rick Jones Custom Painting, Hammond Lumber, Pittsburgh Paints, Pepsi, the Sports Arena, Richard Higgins, Brewer Brick Company, and Bangor Laminates.

January 10th marked our one year anniversary. In that time span, Fields4Kids has been home to soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, baseball, and softball leagues and clinics, has partnered with Blackbear United, Bangor Soccer Club, Bronco Soccer Travel Club, and the Maine Tide and Maine Sting to be their training facility. In addition to these programs, Fields4Kids offers a TOPSoccer Program with children with physical and mental disabilities from Stillwater Academy.

Thank you to everyone who plays, participates, donates, volunteers or just visits Fields4Kids!!
